New league guidance on handshakes

3rd March 2020

Advice from the CYFL around suspending handshakes at the present time due to Coronavirus

In line with government advice and in accordance with some other local Leagues we have decided that given the current situation and guidance issued by the Public Health Authorities, it is advisable and prudent that the following be temporarily suspended until further notice:

Any form of pre-match handshakes as part of the RESPECT campaign by players and officials,
Handshakes by captains and officials at the toss of the coin prior to the start of the match.
Handshakes by players and officials after the final whistle.

This will take effect from tomorrow the 3rd March until further notice.

You may have received this already from other leagues but this practice to be followed by all CYFL teams and Match Officials
